For this project, the task was to create a design for the non-profit BELCO Alliance & Education. This organization partners with multiple higher education schools to offer short-term study abroad opportunities for students. The project goal was to redesign their website, as in its current state, it was outdated and hard to navigate.
For this project, the group worked within Figma to create interactive prototypes. I was mainly responsible for creating the partner institutions page, which hosted a list of the schools that BELCO partnered with, for students to explore what schools BELCO had to offer. I followed the original vision for BELCO’s brand, using their typography, logo, and soft pastel colors, while expanding on the design to make it livelier and student friendly.
In the beginning of this project, our group struggled with getting an adequate amount of quality user research. After our group’s first sprint with our stakeholders, this gave us the push to pursue this missing research. On my behalf, I created a poster for a user survey that was posted around campus, as well as personally conducted an interview and an observation test with the client’s original page to find and validate pain points that needed prioritization.
In the design, the things that we found needed focusing on was having easier to read language, fixing missing information, and fixing the lack of functionality. This helped to create a design that felt more directed to the target audience, being international students.
